Pittsburgh Steelers knee jerk reactions: Week 2 showed everything we feared
Where’s the tackling?
The defense couldn’t tackle anyone. How many times did Chief ball carriers break multiple tackles before being brought down or scoring? Way too many for my liking!
Two quick examples. First, Sammy Watkins’ first quarter jet sweep, where he broke three tackles to get inside the 10-yard line.
Second, on Kareem Hunt’s first quarter TD, he broke two tackles, then stiff armed rookie Terrell Edmunds at the 3-yard line and waltzed into the end zone. Making the score 21-0.
The defense only had 45 tackles for the game and, 26 were by the DBs. Safety Morgan Burnett lead the team with six combined tackles. Any football fan knows. If the secondary is making most of the tackles, that team is probably going to lose.
