Monday night football is headed to Tampa Bay, as the Pittsburgh Steelers take on the Buccaneers in a Week 3 matchup.
Pittsburgh isn’t the team they thought they were. At least not yet. Their defense is struggling, the offensive line is injured and their record is, well, bad.
But the season is young and this team has potential. At this point, they aren’t a poor team but have played poor. Luckily, that’s something they can change before it’s too late.
Week 3 poses questions that need to be answered. This lands on the coaches and players, all of which need to perform well before their time in Pittsburgh becomes closer to the end.
No one is getting cut after Week 3, hopefully. Some below-average performance can land some players on the bench. Starting with these five.
Artie Burns
Artie Burns is already taking second-team snaps, and that’s only going to get worse with another bad performance. He needs to right the ship this week before his time as a starter is over. Right now, it’s not his job to lose but his to earn.
Burns is not someone this team can trust right now. He gets blown away in deep coverage, leaves assignments open and has caused some very unnecessary penalties. Coty Sensabaugh is going to see plenty of action tonight, meaning Burns needs to take advantage of his time on the field.
Pittsburgh will turn their back on the former first-round pick if they need to. They’ve hit a point where they can no longer wait for talent to develop. This is do or die week for Burns.
