Pittsburgh Steelers: Five players that stood out against Baltimore
The Pittsburgh Steelers dropped to 1-2-1 on the season with a disappointing loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football. Despite the loss, there were a few players that stood out.
Overall, it was a night to forget, as the Steelers failed to provide the hometown crowd with a win for the second time this year in as many tries. After an abysmal start, just as in the Kansas City game, the offense sparked a comeback, tying the game before halftime.
After that, it was all over. The offense never found the spark again, while the defense, while not giving up many points, gave up loads of yards and time of possession to Baltimore.
Out of all the negatives, there were some positives believe it or not.
Ben Roethlisberger
If we were just basing this off of the first half, this would be a no-brainer. I’ll get to the 2nd half in a minute.
When the team fell down 14-0 early, Ben helped spark a comeback, leading the offense down the field for field goals on two different possessions, then a touchdown pass to Antonio Brown near the end of the half. The play was another classic “Big Ben play,” moving around the pocket and making a difficult back shoulder throw to the Pro Bowl receiver. Big Ben finished with 224 yards in the first half.
We will be fair and say how bad Ben and the rest of the offense was in the second half. It’s hard to find any positives or anyone that stood out in the second half. Ben threw for only 50 yards in the second half. His first half performance is enough to make our list though.
