Where are the Linebackers?
Now you see the pattern. If this looks like a defense that lost its best player, its heart, and whose front office did nothing to replace that player, then there is a very good reason for that. Nothing against Jon Bostic. He’s a fine player. But no one in the league can do what Ryan Shazier does. Just because a player is irreplaceable however, does not let your front office off the hook for not even trying.
Regardless of how we got here, we’re here. None of the linebackers seem to be popping. They each have their strengths. Williams is a brute. Dupree is an athlete. Watt is Mr. Hustle. A leader needs to emerge though, a play maker, a game changer. If the Steelers do trade Bell, they should have linebacker at the top of their list.
