Artie Burns
The first person to be cut this offseason is going to be Artie Burns. The third-year player has lost his starting job, with little chance of regaining it. Right now, he’s a liability no matter who he covers, with no signs of improvement.
Le’Veon Bell can turn the offense into something even more dangerous, but he can’t fix the defense. There are issues at every level of the defense, as a whole, but a lot of them start with the secondary.
Burns has been given chances to redeem himself and has yet to come through. Pittsburgh is running out of second-chances to hand to the cornerback. Which, unfortunately, will lead to his departure.
