Packages with LJ Fort

The inside linebacker position is getting better, but it’s still not great. Jon Bostic is playing well, and Vince Williams continues to be a player this team wants on the field. But both of them on the field leaves the middle of the pass coverage wide open.

LJ Fort can fix that. He’s played well enough earn significant playing time. He’s not Ryan Shazier, but outside of Matthew Thomas he’s the most versatile linebacker on the roster.

With him in the lineup, there is a safety net in pass coverage. Plus, he’s pretty solid at finding the quarterback in blitz packages. No one saw him being the savior of the position, but with Fort on the field this defense is actually… better.
