Tony Jefferson

Tony Jefferson is having a really solid season for the Ravens. He adds a great dimension to their defense, which is ranked first in the NFL.

He’s second on the team in tackles, which is impressive for a safety. He’s also recorded a sack, an interception, and four tackles-for-loss, which is tied for the team lead.

How Jefferson can cripple the Steelers’ offense is his ability to pass defend as well as help in run support. The Ravens held James Conner, who is third in the NFL in rushing, to just 19 yards on nine carries in their first meeting. The Ravens almost always play the run well and Jefferson is a key part of that.

Having a safety that is diverse enough to help out in both run and pass defense is a valuable asset. Jefferson does exactly this for the Ravens.

The only sliver of light when it comes to Jefferson is that he is banged up. He is currently listed as questionable on the Ravens’ injury report. If he misses the game, it’s a big loss for Baltimore.
