Pittsburgh Steelers: 5 players who stood out in win over Baltimore
The Pittsburgh Steelers evened the score with the Ravens on Sunday, winning 23-16. The victory has strengthened the Steelers lead in the AFC North.
This game had serious implications on how the AFC North will play out. The Steelers victory took away a straight up head-to-head tie breaker from Baltimore, while the Steelers widened their lead over the Bengals as well.
This wasn’t a huge game statistically for most of the team, but they played a very solid game all around. The defense prevented big plays and stopped the Baltimore run game while the offense dominated time of possession and converted a high percentage on third down.
Going into Baltimore and scoring 23 points is no easy task. Baltimore boasts the highest ranked defense in the NFL. The Steelers were able to impose their will on them. It was a truly great team win.
While it was a great team win, there were still some players that had a big impact on the Steelers week nine win.
James Conner
I’m just going to go ahead and say this is pretty much a given every week. He’s become one of the top running backs in the league, not just in production, but in showcasing his ability as well.
Conner’s all-around game has been a big reason why the Steelers’ offense has been able to click as if Le’Veon Bell never held out. He not only carried 24 times for 107 yards, but added seven catches for 56 yards, including his first career receiving touchdown.
Conner was held to 19 yards on nine carries in the Steelers last matchup against Baltimore, so this performance was a huge boost to how people can perceive the second-year back out of the University of Pittsburgh.
With every week that passes, everyone involved with the Steelers is becoming more and more comfortable with Conner as the workhorse in this offense. Conner displayed yet again why he’s so reliable.
