Ben Roethlisberger is in game manager mode

Big Ben has been every kind of quarterback over his career. He was the young gun, the scrambling improviser, the stat machine, and now he appears to be settling into the veteran game manager roll. This is not to say his stats aren’t good, he’s 5th in the league in passing yards, but with the emergence of a power running game Ben can sit back and pick his shots. With the receiving talent in among all skill players, and with tight end better than it’s been in years, those shots can land reliably.

On the day, Ben threw 270 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also ran it in for a goal line touchdown. He kept the offense focused in a tough environment. The Ravens were nipping at their heels all game but Ben calmly kept the Steelers ahead. They were 10/16 on third downs and finished drives for touchdowns instead of field goals. Shout out to Josh Dobbs for a nice 3rd down throw but we’ve watched Ben long enough to know he’s tough and it’s hard to keep him out of a game. He’s the core of the team.
