The defense finally kicks in

Keith Butler is still the defensive coordinator, but many believe he’ll have more control of the defense this season and Mike Tomlin will back off from assisting. Maybe Butler can break out without someone yelling out play calls and suggesting adjustments.

Last season left us with little hope that Butler can be a productive coach in this league. Next season he’s probably going to continue saying things that make no sense and missing adjustments, but the players will be ready.

If the Steelers can fill holes like cornerback and inside linebacker they’ll have a unit that won’t need to rely on a coordinator as much.

When the gaps are fixed this defensive unit is different than they were last year. We saw promise through most of the season with this group of guys. All they need is to add a few more weapons and they’re ready to peak.
