Le’Veon Bell refused to play for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2018 because they wouldn’t pay him. But now, NFL teams are questioning whether the running back is still worth their paycheck.

According to Pro Football Talk, the New York Jets are worried the former Steelers running back, Le’Veon Bell, may have let himself go during his time off. For a player looking to reset the running back market, New York may be the first team to make it known his time off could have decreased his value.

After a year of posting videos and pictures of living the life in Miami, Bell’s luxurious lifestyle may be coming back to bite him. It’s hard to image he spent the entire season outside of the gym, but the public only saw clubs and rap music, not weights and footwork.

Bell remains the hottest name in the free agent market, but his worth may be slipping. The $17 million and $60 million guaranteed may not be the number he’ll receive this offseason. Pittsburgh’s decision not to transition tag the running back could have been an early sign his offseason won’t be going as expected.

Bell let the whole world know he’s free after tweeting minutes after finding out he wouldn’t be tagged. Not the happy ending in Pittsburgh Antonio Brown tried to have with the fans, but rather a bitter goodbye for his first NFL team.

It’ll be interesting to see what teams decide to take a chance on Bell and what type of contracts he is offered. Teams will still keep Bell at the top of their market list and some may hand him the money he’s looking for.

The free agency market will open on March 17 and Bell should be one of the first names to get an offer. But as Steelers Nation is aware of, the running back doesn’t mind being patient to try and get the money he believes he deserves.
