The Pittsburgh Steelers have traded right tackle, Marcus Gilbert, to the Arizona Cardinals according to multiple reports.

First shared by Adam Schefter, the Pittsburgh Steelers have moved right tackle, Marcus Gilbert, to the NFC’s Arizona Cardinals in exchange for a sixth-round pick. This moves comes only hours after the team announced the tackle will be placed on the trading block.

After missing most of 2018, Marcus Gilbert was one of many players the Steelers were concidering moving on from. The successful tackle has spent his entire career in Pittsburgh, but after dealing with injuries over the last few seasons, the team has found new talent at the position.

Matt Feiler’s progress last year somewhat nudged this decision, as the team believes he can replace Gilbert on the right side of the line. After drafting Chuk Okorafor last offseason, Pittsburgh keeps two right tackles on the roster moving into 2019.

This moves comes in the midst of the Antonio Brown speculations. The Steelers were hoping to move Brown by the end of Friday, but now that that deadline is upon them it appears they’ll be waiting to make a move on the All-Pro wide receiver.

For now, Pittsburgh’s only move remains Gilbert. This is a decision many fans will be bittersweet with. Gilbert became part of one of the best offensive lines in football, but as his health troubles started to pile up it became apparent the team’s best interest was to move him.

A sixth-round pick may be a little cheap for his value but if Pittsburgh was looking to make a move quick and the Cardinals’ pick seemed good enough to make a move for the 31-year-old veteran.

This could be the final trade for the Steelers this weekend unless Antonio Brown gets more attention from around the league. As of now, though, Pittsburgh remains waiting for their second trade of the offseason.
