Former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker, James Harrison, shared his thoughts on the ongoing controversy involving his former quarterback.

A former teammate of Ben Roethlisberger’s, James Harrison, hasn’t been a fan of his former team. Since leaving Pittsburgh in 2017 for the New England Patriots, before eventually retiring, Harrison has had plenty to say about the culture and the problems with the Steelers.

This continued when Harrison became a focal point of the Antonio Brown drama. Harrison and Brown did interviews together and Harrison spoken on numerous media outlets about why the Steelers have struggled and why Antonio Brown wasn’t in the wrong for wanting out.

But this time, Harrison was defending his former team and teammate. With Josh Harris starting all kinds of discussions about Ben Roethlisberger’s leadership, many present and former teammates of the quarterback have spoken up about their thoughts on the situation.

Harrison’s words were surprising to some fans, as he spoke about how he believed Roethlisberger is a good leader and teammate. Appearing on The Herd, Harrison gave his thoughts on how Ben doesn’t always get close to everyone and that the players who he didn’t connect with are equally at fault for not gaining that relationship.

However, Harrison does say that Roethlisberger always led and made sure to be a positive person in the locker room. He did acknowledge that Ben spoke with coaches a lot, but said it’s part of his job as a quarterback.

It appears that the longer this goes on the more people are coming out to support Roethlisberger. His offensive linemen, Maurkice Pouncey and Ramon Foster, have opened up about how they disagree with Harris’ comments. James Washington also spoke on Ben and how his words last season helped push him to gain the confidence Roethlisberger was trying to provoke.

For the Steelers, they’d like for all this talk to simmer so they can focus on the NFL Draft.
