Steelers film room: LSU linebacker Devin White
The NFL Draft is less than a month away. The Steelers have filled some needs in free agency, but the draft is where the Steelers could address the biggest need of the offseason.
It’s no secret the biggest need for the Steelers this offseason is inside linebacker, something the team did not address at all in the draft in 2018. The 2019 draft class is much deeper on the defensive side of the ball, and the Steelers have their options with any of their 10 draft picks.
We’ve already covered Michigan linebacker Devin Bush, so now we are going to take a look at LSU product Devin White.
The Steelers have the 20th pick in the first round of the NFL draft. Unfortunately, Devin White will not be available then. White is projected by most draft experts to be a top-10 pick, so if he has a chance of wearing black and gold on Sundays in 2019, the Steelers will have to trade up to land him. It’s not out of the realm of possibilities since they own 10 picks in this draft, as stated earlier.
Devin White would bring serious playmaking ability to the inside linebacker position, something the Steelers have desperately lacked since Ryan Shazier suffered his spinal injury. The Steelers have to look to the future with a young, playmaking linebacker in the middle of the defense and White brings that to the table for Pittsburgh.
