Antonio Brown has tried to twist his story all offseason, attempting to stay the good guy for a fanbase that saw him say nothing positive about the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Over the last four months, the Steelers have dealt with a player they desperately tried to get rid of and once they did, wished they never had in the first place. Antonio Brown hasn’t wanted to be in Pittsburgh since the end of the season and despite all the stories both he and the Steelers have told all spring, the truth has finally come out.
In a revealing article by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, details have been released that Brown officially requested a trade from Pittsburgh on December 31, one day after the team’s final regular season game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Brown publicly announced a trade request on February 12.
We still don’t know how much of a factor missing the final game played in Brown’s decision, but it probably pushed the action of requesting a trade forward. It’s been a long offseason of words and tweets from AB, which started the day after Pittsburgh’s season ended.
The story is still unclear as to what pushed Brown to miss a week of practice. While reports have been denied that he and Ben Roethlisberger had an altercation earlier in the week, AB continued to push that Ben was a major reason he wanted to leave.
Now, it seems to be everything from the players, coaches, fans and anything else he can say on social media. We’ll likely never know the true reason, not that many people are concerned about it at this point, but whatever it was it sparked the league’s top wide receiver to push his way out of a team he was with for nine years.
Hopefully, this is the end of the Brown stories. But chances are this isn’t going to end any time soon.
