Brandon Kring: Pittsburgh Steelers Mock Draft
The Steelers got their man at inside backer in round one but it never hurts to double up and they do here. Tyrell Dodson is a quick and shifty inside backer with plus speed.
Dodson is a flier here at the end of the draft to possibly make the roster as a backup with special teams use. He has a lot to work on, as would most seventh round picks.
Dodson can rely on his 4.6 speed to help him get in the door but he needs to be better at taking on blocks and shedding them while diagnosing the play in front of him.
His initial reads are good but it seems the farther into a play you get, the more he seems to trend in the wrong direction. If he can improve these aspects, he could become a starter or, at the very least, a 3rd string backup.
That does it for this mock and I feel I addressed some needs as well as garnered quality depth. The Steelers did well with their signings allowing me to pick the best player I could but I also filled some needs as well.
Remember, this was done using the Mock Machine at The Draft Network’s site. You can run it yourself to see what you come up with and have fun with it. The Steelers will be on the clock soon enough and all the speculation turns to reality as teams embark on selecting their future once again in the NFL Draft.
