Brandon Kring: Pittsburgh Steelers Mock Draft
Pittsburgh has had a very good defensive line for much of the 2000s and they continue to develop and coach the position well. Cameron Heyward and Stephon Tuitt hold down the front now with Javon Hargrave in the mix as well but they could use another guy to spice up the rotation.
Dre’Mont Jones is a smaller interior defensive lineman but his athleticism is something to behold in the third round. He put it all together in 2018 for a fine season tallying 43 tackles (13 for loss) and eight and a half sacks on the year.
Although he is built somewhat smaller, an NFL strength and conditioning program should have no problem whipping him into a pro lineman. He will need it to help improve his run defense and be able to be trusted as a three down interior lineman at the next level.
Jones could play all along the Steelers line and provide quality depth to the starting three. Cam Heyward can help mold him into a starting defensive lineman with the nastiness needed to be a Steelers defensive lineman.
