The Pittsburgh Steelers continue to help their injured inside linebacker, Ryan Shazier, while he looks to keep his rehab moving.

For the second season, the Pittsburgh Steelers have placed Ryan Shazier on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform List, allowing him to collect a paycheck without stepping on the field. Shazier continues to rehab, recovering from one of the most serious injuries the NFL has seen.

It’s been a long and painful road for Shazier, but the linebacker has kept his head high. He continues to prove all of us wrong with each achievement, most recently pulling off box jumps. Not everyone believes he’ll step foot on the field again, but the Steelers are sticking by his side helping as much as they can and trying to keep the hope alive for their teammate.

Pittsburgh is a team that’s taken a lot of heat this offseason. Antonio Brown made it very clear he believes this organization doesn’t treat their players right and many former Steelers players have jump on board. But while the voices of those players aren’t very big, the Steelers are proving everyone wrong.

It may not be the best scenario for Shazier or the Steelers, but it helps both parties. Shazier continues to be around developing players and the defense. Even if he’s not on the field, he’s helping as much as he can and continuing to be one of the brightest names in Pittsburgh. For the Steelers, they get to keep a guy they’ve loved since day one.

If playing doesn’t happen for Shazier, it’s hopeful that the Steelers keep him around as a coach. He was one of the best in the league two years ago, and has the leadership ability to help any player that comes through Pittsburgh. It’d be best for Steelers Nation if they got to continue seeing Ryan Shazier on the sidelines.
