After months of anticipation, the 2019 NFL Draft is in the books. The Pittsburgh Steelers selected 9 players and did something that has only been done twice in the Kevin Colbert era – they traded up in the first round.

I know grading picks before they ever even put on their NFL helmet seems like a strange concept, but here are my initial thoughts on the Steelers 2019 draft class:

Devin Bush, LB, Michigan

It was no surprise the Steelers had their eyes on Devin Bush throughout the draft process. However, after media circles finally caught on, Bush was never going to be available to the Steelers at pick 20. Thanks to additional draft capital acquired in the Antonio Brown trade, Kevin Colbert felt comfortable enough to trade all the way up to pick 10.

Devin Bush was my 7th overall player I graded in this years’ draft class. He has incredible sideline-to-sideline speed, and could be an absolute game-changer for the Steelers defense. The value was a little rich (pick 20, pick 52, and a 2020 3rd round pick), but they ultimately landed the guy they wanted all along.
