Diotae Johnson, WR, Toledo

I have to admit, I was scratching my head when the Steelers took wide receiver Diontae Johnson with the first of their 3rd round picks. With a handful of high-profile prospects on the board like Chase Winovich and Justin Layne (both of which the Steelers expressed interest in), it was a little surprising the Steelers elected to go with Johnson.

Diontae Johnson isn’t the biggest or most athletic wide receiver, by any means. However, what he lacks in size and speed, he makes up for with savvy route running and an excellent ability to beat press coverage at the line of scrimmage. Johnson’s height, weight, athleticism, and play style have been likened to Antonio Brown – which may have been why the Steelers were so attracted to him at this spot.

Grade: C+
