Benny Snell, RB, Kentucky

The Steelers made it obvious from their pre-draft visits that they were not going to come away from the draft without a running back. Benny Snell was a player they had their eyes on throughout the draft process.

Snell – who accounted for a large portion of the offense at Kentucky – is a running back much in the mold of James Conner. He is a powerful back with good contact balance, but unlike Conner, he doesn’t offer much as a receiver. Snell’s NFL Combine numbers were very underwhelming. Overall, I am not a big fan of drafting third string running backs in the 4th round just to be an insurance policy to James Conner.

Grade: C-
