Sutton Smith, OLB, Northern Illinois

I actually jumped out of my chair whet the Steelers selected Sutton Smith in the 6th round (I typically don’t do that for day three picks). Smith is a two-time MAC defensive player of the year with remarkable production as an edge rusher at Northern Illinois.

There’s one problem with Sutton Smith: he’s too small to be an edge rusher in the NFL. The Steelers got a bit of an experiment with Smith – who will no doubt have to transition to linebacker for Pittsburgh. However, Smith is a fiery, twitched up player who has a chance to be a stud special teams player and maybe even make a mark on defense somewhere down the line.
