We’ve seen this time and time again with third-round corners

The Steelers have a type (much like the guy who always dates, blondes and it never works out). Pittsburgh loves these third round corners that are instinctual. But what kind of corner fits today’s NFL? Corners that can stay in phase and play man coverage. There are plenty of corners that are instinctual. But how many can actually stay with their receiver?

Sure there was Ike Taylor, but for every Ike Taylor there was a Curtis Brown. The Steelers drafted Keenan Lewis a decade ago, but he only gave the Steelers one year of real production, and then he signed a big contract with the Saints. Basically, the Steelers haven’t been able to draft corners anyway. From Artie Burns to Senquez Golston to Ricardo Colclough the Steelers haven’t done a good job of drafting cornerbacks this side of the 21st century.
