The book had closed on the 2019 NFL Draft.  While every team, most assuredly, embraces the hope that their draft class will go down in NFL lore as having been one of the best draft classes in team history, we know the reality is much more pedestrian in nature.  Let’s review our 2019 draft class; let’s perform an introspection, if you will.

Before we commence, let’s lay the foundation for our discussion.  Since I am not a pundit in any way, shape or form, I will not attempt to evaluate each pick as a draft analyst would evaluate each pick (e.g. comparing the pick to another potential pick).  Rather, I will comment on the players we selected and attempt to “find a spot” for said players on the team for the 2019 season.

If you perused my previous article, “Let’s Mock the Draft“, I stated that the draft, essentially, is a roll of the dice as teams can neither prepare for nor anticipate what another team may do on draft day (e.g. trading up or trading down, trading a player, etc). Ironically, that is precisely what we did in the first round.

As we take an introspective look at each draft pick, we will keep in mind the two questions of which this article consists: How did we perform and what could it signal.  The objective here is to not assign a grade for each pick or, for that matter, for the entire draft.  The objective is to postulate how each player may (or may not ) carve out a role on the team. With that said, let’s get to it, shall we?
