4. 2014, Week 6: Browns 31, Steelers 10

When you talk about embarrassing games, this one is a great example.

This was a truly terrible game in all phases. The offense couldn’t move the ball, the defense couldn’t stop anyone, and even special teams had miscues. It was just a terrible, terrible game.

After a pretty slow first quarter, the Steelers took a 3-0 lead into early in the second quarter, when Brad Wing fumbled the hold on an attempted field goal that would’ve doubled the Steelers’ lead.

What ensued was 21-unanswered points by Cleveland and the Steelers offense going as stagnant as they’ve ever been under Tomlin’s tenure. The Steelers never recovered.

The offense continued to struggle in the second half, starting with a drive that stalled right at the fringe of field goal range, where a sack and an incomplete deep pass on 3rd-and-17 forced the Steelers to punt instead of try to put points up on the board. Big Ben threw a pick on the following Steelers possession.

This game might be the poster game for the crowd that believes Mike Tomlin can’t get his team prepared for sub-.500 teams on the road. And for good reason. It was a U-G-L-Y ugly game for Pittsburgh.
