The Pittsburgh Steelers may not have the deepest roster in the NFL, but here are three players they should put on the trade block.

The Steelers aren’t a team that are known for making a lot of plash with free agent signings, trades, or otherwise. Kevin Colbert is the type of general manager who likes to do things by the book – his book, that is.

Colbert operates under the the strategy of keeping his own players he drafted, giving them big contracts, and making sure they don’t let players leave their organization that they want too keep.

This, however, obviously didn’t work with players like Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell, who forced themselves out the door despite Kevin Colbert trying his best to chain in with a lock and key.

But there is another reason why this strategy hasn’t been working – a reason why Colbert and the front office should no longer abide by their old way of thinking. Simply put, the Steelers haven’t been very good at drafting players in the first couple rounds.

Dating back to 2013, the Steelers have missed on high draft picks like Jarvis Jones, Artie Burns, Senquez Golson, and (depending on what you think of him) Bud Dupree. The verdict is still out on 2018 1st round pick, Terrell Edmunds (who many thought was a significant reach).

Because they have been missing in these areas, it may not be a bad idea for the Steelers to pile up on draft picks for the upcoming season. One way they can do that is by trading away talent at deep positions.
