Hard Knock’s missed the opportunity of a lifetime by not following the Pittsburgh Steelers as they prepared for the 2018 season.
HBO’s Hard Knocks is a popular TV documentary that follows an NFL team throughout training camp and covers their preparation for the upcoming season.
The NFL recently announced that Hard Knocks will be featuring the Oakland Raiders in 2019:
The Raiders are an excellent choice for obvious reasons. Not only did Oakland acquire Jon Gruden as their head coach and Mike Mayock as their general manager, they also traded for Antonio Brown.
Ironically enough, the Raiders added Vontaze Burfict this offseason – the player who nearly decapitated Brown in the playoffs a few years ago.
This is already being hyped up as possibly the best Hard Knocks since they began back in 2001. As good as this show should be with the Raiders (and it could be pretty fantastic), Hard Knocks missed an opportunity by not following the Steelers around in 2018.
The Steelers were the center of drama last offseason – drama that was headlined by Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell. This dynamic duo of locker room disaster made headlines for all of the wrong reasons.
While Antonio Brown was busy being himself, Le’Veon Bell was leaving teammates out to dry. It wasn’t until the start of the season that the Steelers were aware of his decision to bail on them and forego the 2018 season.
Even as a Steelers fan, I have to admit that it would have been interesting to be a fly on the wall inside the facility, and hear what the players had to say about Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown.
The Steelers were in the media for all of the wrong reasons in 2018, but football fans would have loved to hear about their demise.
There is no doubt that the Raiders will be an excellent choice to host Hard Knocks in 2019. While the Rooney family would probably never allow it to happen, the Steelers could have outdone the Kardashian’s on reality TV last year.
