46. Landry Jones, QB (2013)

Landry Jones ended up getting the boot last year, with the Steelers electing to go with Josh Dobbs in his stead. However, I feel Jones earned his place among the top 50 Steelers of the 2000’s. While he wasn’t overly impressive when called upon, Jones did what was required of him to help the Steelers hold down the fort when Ben Roethlisberger was injured.

The job of a backup quarterback isn’t easy. They don’t get to take first team reps all week and they are unknowingly thrust into action, ice cold, as the most influential player to the outcome of a game.

Jones excelled in these moments. Though he finished his career in Pittsburgh with just 8 touchdowns and 7 interceptions, Landry Jones was a capable backup who always kept the Steelers’ playoff aspirations alive while Ben was nursing an injury.

Though it didn’t go down as a win two years ago, I believe Jones was mainly responsible for beating the Patriots – regardless of what the NFL has to say about the ‘Jesse James catch.’
