17. Ramon Foster, LG (2009)

Here’s a name you may not have expected to land this high on my list. However, I could certainly make the case that Ramon Foster may be the most underrated player on the Steelers over the past twenty years.

Unlike Maurkice Pouncey or David DeCastro, Foster did not have the draft status that came with fame from day one. He was not a first-round draft choice, and quite frankly nobody outside of the Tennessee Volunteer fan base knew his name.

Foster went undrafted in 2009 but was soon signed by the Steelers. He was able to put together 12 starts in his first two seasons. By year three, Foster became a full-time starter for the Steelers at left guard and remains there today.

Foster didn’t have any Pro Bowls to his name and has always played under team-friendly contracts, but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t good. Ramon Foster is a large reason for the success the offensive line has experienced over the past five seasons and may be a part of the best group the Steelers have seen in their long history.

Ramon Foster started 145 games for the Steelers before hanging up his cleats following the 2019 NFL season. He will be forgotten by some fans, but the ones who really knew this team will cherish his contributions to the organization.
