The Pittsburgh Steelers just missed the playoff in 2018. A major betting site gives them the 11th best odds to win the Super Bowl this season.

The Steelers are no stranger to winning, and they have done so as well as nearly any team around the NFL over the past 15 years. However, their recent Super Bowl odds are a little disheartening.

According to Vegas Insider, the Steelers are currently tied for just the 11th best odds of winning Super Bowl 54 with 25/1 odds. While that doesn’t seem all bad, the betting site believes there are at least 10 teams more likely to do so this season.

After their 4th straight season of 10 or more wins in 2017 with a 13-3 record, the Steelers dropped the ball in 2018. Their record of 9-6-1 was just enough to keep them out of the playoffs last year, and a stretch of disappointing games in the second half of the season led to their demise.

This offseason, the Steelers lost Antonio Brown, Le’Veon Bell, and offensive line coach, Mike Munchak – all to AFC teams, no less. Though the Steelers added talent of their own through free agency and the NFL draft, betting sites don’t believe it’s enough to make them a top 10 contender this year.

Vegas Insider isn’t the only gambling site who thinks this way. Odds Shark has the Steelers even lower – tied for the 12th best Super Bowl odds in the NFL at +2200.

As we know, odds can (and will) change the closer we get to February of 2020. Perhaps these betting sites will find that the Steelers acquisitions are more helpful than they though. If Devin Bush, Steven Nelson, and others can step up their game, it could be reason enough to tilt these odds ever so slightly.

Obviously, injuries are a factor as well. If Pittsburgh can keep Ben Roethlisberger upright and not suffer any major injuries, they may be able to leapfrog a few teams on this list.

As it stands, Vegas Insider has the New England Patriots as 6/1 odds of winning their second consecutive Super Bowl. Closely followed are the Chiefs, Rams, and Saints – each with 10/1 odds.

Pittsburgh has a lot of work to do to prove doubters wrong. Gambling websites don’t like to lose money, so we can trust that they have done their homework. However, we have seen the Steelers surprise people before. Perhaps they can do it again this season.
