The Steelers finished the 2018  season with a 9-6-1 record. Here’s why an NFL Network analyst believes they will be a 7-9 team in 2019.

The Pittsburgh Steelers were admittedly underwhelming in 2018. They dropped several games to inferior opponents, and had a three-game losing streak in the second half of the season.

I recently wrote an article about the reasons Pittsburgh missed the playoffs in 2018. Some of those reasons included Chris Bowell’s self-destruction and Ben Roethlisberger forcing too many turnovers.

However, despite all of their shortcomings in 2018, does that mean that the Pittsburgh is bound for a losing season this year?

One NFL Network analyst seems to think so. In a segment on the Network, Maurice Jones-Drew broke down each game the Steelers will play this season and predicted whether or not they win or lose.

Jones-Drew determined that the they would finish the season 7-9. Here is what he had to say about the Steelers in 2019:

"“It’s going to be tough for Pittsburgh to go ahead and win without A.B. and Le’Veon Bell. Those are two of the top players… It’s going to be 7-9.”"

After breaking down each game, Jones-Drew decided the Steelers would lose to the Patriots, 49ers, Chargers, Colts, Rams, Browns, Ravens, and even Le’Veon Bell’s New York Jets.

The NFL Network analyst believes that the Steelers will drop both games to the Cleveland Browns, and that the losses of Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell will be too much for Pittsburgh to overcome.

While it is possible that Pittsburgh could lose the games that Jones-Drew listed, I still believe it is unlikely that they finished with a record as poor as 7-9 next season. I recently wrote about why analytics say that the Steelers were better than their record in 2018, and why they could have a better record this season.

dark. Next. 3 players who the Steelers are asking too much of in 2019

It will be interesting to see how many of Jones-Drew’s bold predictions come to fruition. The Steelers haven’t had a losing season since 2003 when they went 10-6. Let’s hope Pittsburgh is much better than what Maurice Jones-Drew thinks they will be in 2019.
