Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger, ranked 19th on all-time quarterback list. Should he be higher?

Ben Roethlisberger has had an impressive NFL career. From leading the Steelers to a 15-1 season as a rookie to winning two Super Bowls, his accomplishments have been some that most quarterbacks can only dream of.

The Steelers all-time leading passer was recently ranked in a list of all-time quarterbacks, and his placement in the top 25 was a bit underwhelming.

Elliott Harrison of NFL.com had Ben slated as the 19th best quarterback of all-time. He was ranked ahead of players like Kurt Warner, Jim Kelly, Warren Moon, and Fran Tarkenton. However, there were some questionable names above him as well.

One of which was former Steelers quarterback and Hall of Famer, Terry Bradshaw. Bradshaw was a long-time quarterback in a very different NFL in the 1970’s and early 1980’s. However, his numbers were more than pedestrian, as he finished his career with 212 touchdowns to 210 interceptions.

Also ahead of Ben on the list of all-time quarterbacks were Russell Wilson, Sid Luckman, and Sammy Baugh (the last two of which started their careers in the 1930’s).

It’s really not fair to either party to compare quarterbacks from two totally different eras of football. We don’t know how Ben would have looked back then, or what Luckman or Baugh  could do in today’s NFL.

What we do know is this: Ben Roethlisberger was a very good quarterback. He’s had his ups and downs as much as anyone throughout his career, but his 363 touchdowns to 190 interceptions to go with over 56,000 passing yards will be hard for any Steelers quarterback to ever beat.

He was a two time Super Bowl champion who appeared in a 3rd Super Bowl. However, what’s perhaps most impressive about Big Ben is that he has never been a part of a loosing record team since entering the NFL in 2004.

How Pittsburgh Steelers could use each wide receiver in 2019. dark. Next

Ben Roethlisberger has a record of 144-69-1, which is no easy accomplishment in today’s game. Elliott Harrison can speculate all he wants about which quarterbacks were the best of all time. However, there aren’t 18 passers in history I would rather take over Big Ben.
