The Steelers had some players who put up interesting numbers last year. Here are 5 over/under stats for Pittsburgh in 2019.

The Steelers put up some numbers that caught the attention of many last season. From Ben Roethlisberger leading the league in passing yards to T.J. Watt’s impressive sack total, the Steelers had an interesting season.

In the same way, some stats were disappointing in 2018. Here are five over/under stat predictions for the Pittsburgh Steelers heading into 2019:

Over/under 4,700 passing yards for Ben Roethlisberger?

There is no doubt that Big Ben will have fewer passing yards in 2019 than he did last season. Roethlisberger led the NFL with 5,129 yards in 2018. However, the 37-year old quarterback is without Antonio Brown.

Ben also threw the ball a league high 675 times last year, and the high volume often led to inefficiency on offense. I expect the attempts to go down this year – resulting in fewer yards.

Over/under 175 targets for JuJu Smith-Schuster?

JuJu was already 4th in the league with 166 targets in 2018, and just five targets away from leading the NFL in this department.

Though the passing volume will likely decrease this season, the Steelers gave Antonio Brown 168 targets last year. JuJu should see an uptick, and could even lead the league in targets in 2019.

Over/under 13.5 sacks for T.J. Watt?

T.J Watt had a breakout season in 2018 – collecting 13.0 sacks in just his 2nd NFL season. Watt finished the season with sacks in three consecutive games, and was one of the most efficient pass rushers in the league near the end of the season.

This year, Watt is rearing to go and should be even better. However, sacks are hard to predict, and 13 sacks is a lot. The sky is the limit for T.J. Watt. It will be interesting to see if he can improve his sack total from 2019.

Over/under 14 interceptions for Ben Roethlisberger?

Ben has been pretty careless with the ball in recent years. The Steelers franchise quarterback has 59 interceptions over the past four NFL season – the most of any quarterback in the league.

Roethlisberger has averaged 15 interceptions a year since 2015, and has just 4 seasons with fewer than 11 interceptions in his 15-year career.

Over/under 9 wins in 2019?

This is a bit of a tough call. I personally would bet the over on this mark, but current betting odds from The Action Network puts the Steelers over/under at just 9 wins this season.

The Steelers face some difficult opponents in 2019, including the Patriots Rams, Seahawks, Colts, and Chargers. It will be interesting to see where they end up here.

It’s always fun thinking about which side to take in these over/under scenarios. It’s still a mystery to see how the Steelers’ new-look offense will mesh this season. Let’s hope they get it together and collect more than 9 wins by the end of the 2019.
