The Pittsburgh Steelers enter 2019 with a deeper roster than they’ve had in recent years. There are three players that they cannot afford to lose.

The Steelers are coming off the heels of an offseason filled with changes. With a lot of player turnover Pittsburgh has seen loads of talent depart, yet also brought in some new players that can make an impact.

The Steelers filled their needs with quality players in both free agency and the NFL Draft. Bringing in players like Mark Barron and Steven Nelson in free agency and trading up to draft Devin Bush showed how dedicated the Steelers were to addressing their biggest weaknesses. They didn’t have to directly address them in press conferences. It truly is an instance where actions speak louder than words.

Because of the talent that has departed (Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell), the Steelers are no longer the trendy pick to win the AFC North. The Browns have added loads of talent, especially on the offensive side of the ball, and the Ravens still have a solid roster.

Despite what’s trendy or not, the Steelers have never had a better chance to win until this season. They’ve come close in years past, and maybe things would have been different if Ryan Shazier never got hurt. But the defense was always way too far behind the offense. 2019 may be a little bit different.

There are three players the Steelers simply cannot afford to lose to injuries. If they do, the Steelers don’t just lose their Super Bowl hopes, but their playoff chances as well.
