It is often hard to evaluate how well a team drafted until the players have had a few years in the league. After they have had time to adjust, you usually have a good idea of what that player is capable of at the NFL level.

The Steelers are a team that continues each year on building through the draft. They rarely make big free agent signings and rely on their scouts and front office to keep them competitive with an influx of college talent each season.

Their methods are often questioned by fans and media alike but, they must be doing something right to stay competitive almost every season. The draft has provided them with quality players and some busts that some fans would like to forget.

Pittsburgh has drafted some of the all time greats like Hines Ward, Heath Miller, Ben Roethlisberger, Troy Polamalu, etc. They have also drafted players like Limas Sweed, Jarvis Jones, Ziggy Hood and more.

There is no true science to the NFL draft and there really is no sure way of knowing who will be studs and who will be duds. The scouts and front office mostly do a good job but, like any team in the NFL, they miss occasionally.

The 2013 draft class was thought to be filled with talent that would help the Steelers for years to come. We have since found out that only one player remains on the team after six seasons.

This class will forever be remembered as they year they took one of the biggest busts in recent memory for Pittsburgh. This player was highly touted coming out of college for his raw power and gaudy sack total for just two years.
