This slideshow is meant to look at the colleges that are helping the Steelers the most currently. This may give you an idea of who to root for on Saturday while you are waiting for the Steelers game.

The Steelers have some schools that they really like to draft from. There are some that will surprise you and some that won’t. We know the Steelers love MAC players as well as players from power five schools. Some of these schools that are helping the Steelers the most aren’t power five conference schools. Although this list is more weighted toward SEC schools, all five of the power five conferences are represented on this list. It also isn’t always the best schools from those conferences that are represented.

I would actually say from the distribution of schools that Steelers players are from that the Steelers do a good job of not favoring certain schools over others. There is really only one school that has four players from one school and that is the most of any school. You could conclude from this study that the Steelers don’t really favor certain schools over others when picking players.

I thought before this study that the schools represented on the Steelers roster would be more heavily weighted toward schools closer to Pittsburgh. I actually found there was no correlation between the location of Pittsburgh and where the Steelers select players. If there is anything I would take away from this study it is that the Steelers choose player over team and that is how you stay competitive in the NFL.

For fun, let’s look at the 10 schools that are helping the Steelers the most.
