The Pittsburgh Steelers have some talented players on their football team. Here’s how they were snubbed in the release of Madden 20 player ratings.

Inaccurate Madden ratings aren’t something that is going to send me into a tizzy, but the Steelers were not highly regarded in this years ratings.

EA Sports’ Madden 20 recently released their player ratings for the upcoming yearly installment to their sports franchise, and some Steelers players were snubbed in their rankings. In fact, just one Pittsburgh player boasted a grade above 88 overall for the release of the game:

David DeCastro comes in as the best rated player on the Steelers with a grade of 93 overall. He is followed by JuJu Smith-Schuster (88), Cameron Heyward (86), and Alejandro Villanueva (86).

DeCastro is just the 32nd ranked player on the game. JuJu Smith-Schuster is tied for the 16th best rated wide receiver on the game, while James Conner is tied for the 22nd highest rated running back – behind players like Lamar Miller and Dion Lewis (who averaged 3.3 yards per carry last season).

Ben Roethlisberger is Madden’s 9th rated quarterback, but his 85 overall grade is significantly worse than Matt Ryan’s 89 overall (who is just one spot above him in the rankings).

Surprisingly, there are dozens of pass rushers (defensive ends and outside linebackers, as Madden has then categorized) who are rated higher than  Pro Bowl edge defender, T.J. Watt (who tallied 13.0 sacks for the Steelers last season). Some of the names in front of him include Whitney Mercilus, Yannick Ngakoue, and the 36-year old, Terrell Suggs.

Ironically, even Tyler Eifert (who has started 4 games over the past 3 seasons) is rated better than all but two players currently on the Steelers with an 88 overall grade.

I’m not the type of person who thinks that every Steeler player should be the best on Madden, and believe they hit a lot of these ratings right on the head with their numbers. However, there were some Steelers who didn’t receive justice for their services on Madden 20.

Fortunately for Steelers fans, Madden has a weekly roster update where they adjust player ratings according to how players are performing in real life. Hopefully it wont take long for some of these Pittsburgh players to climb in their rankings.
