The Steelers have a number of battles heading into training camp. Let’s take a look at the seven major ones.

The Steelers will report to training camp on July 25th which mean this month the Steelers season will start. Most of their offseason is over with the draft and 99% of free agency done. At this point we know the majority of the names that will be on the team when they open against the Patriots on Sunday Night football. Unfortunately, they can only keep 53 on the roster and 10 on the practice squad as well as one international player. They also need to know who will play key roles on the team.

There are some unknowns as to who will be playing what role on the team. Right Tackle is still up in the air so is who is going to be the backup quarterback. But there are also roles on the team that need to be edged out.

Who is going to be the first backup if an outside linebacker gets hurt? Who will be the sixth player in the dime formation? Will it be an inside linebacker or a safety? We still don’t know who will be the third receiver in 11 personnel. We also don’t know who will be that sixth defensive lineman that they always seem to keep? We also don’t know which rookies will make the roster.
