The Pittsburgh Steelers have very little experience at the safety position. Here are three veteran safeties who would make sense in Pittsburgh.

The Steelers have spent draft capital at the safety position in recent years, but that may not be enough. Pittsburgh is in serious need of a veteran presence.

Sean Davis and Terrell Edmunds were high draft choices, but there is just three-and-a-half years of starting experience between the two of them, and no veteran leader to lean on. Outside of Edmunds and Davis, the Steelers are incredibly short-handed at the position with a few unproven players in Marcus Allen, Jordan Dangerfield, and a trio of undrafted players who may not make the roster.

There is a clear need for a versatile safety in the back end – someone who could aid in the development of Davis and Edmunds, and perform well when called upon. The Steelers need a veteran who could step up and help lead an inexperienced secondary.

Sean Davis is in the last year of his rookie deal, and the Steelers have a decision to make regarding his future. The free safety has just 1 interception in his past 17 games (counting the playoffs), and he needs to find ways to take the ball away if he wants to earn big money in Pittsburgh.

Adding another safety would not only provide a veteran presence, but added security if Sean Davis decides to leave via free agency.

The Steelers are in a Super Bowl window as Ben Roethlisberger nears the end of his career. They are in ‘win now’ mode, and they need to try to do everything they can to make sure there are no holes on the team in 2019.

Adding a veteran safety could help sure up one of the weaker positions on the team. Here are three safeties who could help the Steelers this year:
