Pittsburgh Steelers training camp starts this Friday in Latrobe, PA. Here’s why fans should be exited and what they should be watching for.

Training camp is nearly upon us, but how excited should Steelers fans be for the aforementioned?  I suppose the answer depends on, among other things, your perspective of what training camp signifies.

For many Steelers fans, training camp marks the beginning of a new season and with any new season, hope is renewed and restored. That renewed hope is cause for excitement, in and of itself,  but what level of excitement should Steelers fans possess as we head into training camp for the 2019 season?

Believe me, I can not wait for the 2019 season to commence.  This lull between mini-camp and OTA’s (Organized Team Activities) is excruciating to endure, but it is something to which Steelers fans and all football fans, have had to adjust and have become accustomed.

For me, training camp is simply that; It is a training period before the official start to the football season. There does not exist a whole lot of excitement, per se, for me, but there is a level of curiosity surrounding the more interesting story lines that exist this year.

For example, who will emerge as the number two WR to compliment JuJu Smith-Schuster? How quickly will Devin Bush assume a starting role opposite Vince Williams? Is it even fair to expect a rookie to start from day one and to perform at a high level? Let’s delve into these and other questions, shall we?
