2. Mason Rudolph stepped up his game

Mason Rudolph has made a jump from his rookie year. He had the best night of Josh Dobbs, Devlin Hodges and himself. He moved the ball and was the quarterback that led the offense to the most points on the night.

My scouting report of him was good tonight. He was completing passes and played controlled. He seemed to be more comfortable in the pocket. He also showed some mobility which he didn’t show in his rookie year. I believe him when he says that the game has slowed down for him.

Bob Labriola of Steelers.com had the stat line on twitter.

This is a good sign for the Steelers as they will need Mason Rudolph to provide depth in the short term and maybe be the guy in the long term. I have a renewed confidence that he can be the quarterback they drafted him to be. I just don’t want to get ahead of myself because I still see some need for improvement in stretching the field.
