Devin Bush

When the Steelers traded up for Devin Bush, a lot of expectations were going to be put him. And in his first taste of NFL play, he didn’t disappoint.

Yes, it’s just preseason, but Devin Bush was easily the best player on the football field Friday night. From the very start, he made everyone take notice with a solid tackle for a short gain on the first play from scrimmage. And he didn’t stop there.

Bush tallied 10 total tackles (seven solo) in his preseason debut. He played the entire first half, which was expected given how many of the defensive starters were not dressed for the game. Bush also nearly had a pick-six on a 2nd down play during Tampa Bay’s second possession. He did not get credit for a pass defended on the play because it was wiped out by a rouging the passer penalty.

Devin Bush was all over the field for the Steelers. His speed, especially lateral speed, was very evident and his ability to shed blockers or avoid them all together was on display. Bush’s highlight of the night came on this stop on 4th down in the second quarter.

Bush showcased everything we were excited about going into the game. It is just preseason, but man, he has made a great impression so far. Simply a great performance for the Michigan product.
