3 players that will make or break the Steelers 2019 season

2. Devin Bush

This one goes without saying, it is clear that the Steelers invested a bunch of draft capital in this guy to ensure that they could claim their difference maker and make sure he starts making an impact as soon as possible.

Bush will step into a role that some may not be sure that he is entirely ready for. The interior line backer position in Keith Butler’s defense will always be the leader of the defense. A rookie of Bush’s stature will be responsible for managing the defense as well as making plays against the run and the pass. Coverage skills, blitz ability, and leadership are three qualities that Bush will have to improve on in order to fill the shoes of Ryan Shazier.

It is absolutely critical that the defense improves this season. Another cliché incoming – “Defense wins championships.” This phrase reigns especially true when the offense loses their most talented play makers.
