5 burning questions for the Steelers in their 2nd preseason game
By Edward Hunt
Who is the weakest link at quarterback?
The Steelers have three quarterbacks that are battling for two spots on the roster. We have seen good things from Mason Rudolph, Josh Dobbs, and Devlin Hodges.
Heading into the training camp, it seemed that Dobbs and Rudolph would be the clear backups, but Hodges has looked good. If either Rudolph or Dobbs has a bad preseason then Hodges could be kept as the number three.
There are four quarterbacks and three spots so this is a game of who is the weakest link. This is a good problem to have as competition makes everybody better.
None of the three will make it to the practice squad for three reasons. One is that they are all worthy of being claimed by another team. The other reason is the Steelers usually don’t keep a quarterback on the practice squad as usually the third quarterback on the depth chart is the scout team quarterback. The third reason is that Josh Dobbs is ineligible for the practice squad because he has dressed too many times.
