3 Steelers who stood out in 17-7 win over Kansas City Chiefs
Bud Dupree
One of the biggest questions on defense going into 2019 is just how good Bud Dupree would be. We all know what we’re getting out of his counterpart T.J. Watt, but in a contract year, maybe Dupree could finally look like the first-round talent the Steelers have needed all along.
He started his 2019 campaign very well Saturday night. Dupree looked great in rushing the quarterback, registering two sacks in the first half. He also notched a pass defended in the box score.
Dupree looked fast off the line and attacked pass blockers in all sorts of ways throughout his time on the field. We saw everything we would possibly want to see from him when it comes to rushing the quarterback.
He still showed some sloppiness in containing the edge, allowing a couple runners to get outside for big gains. This has been something Dupree has struggled with for most of his career, but it’s hard to hate on Dupree for his performance. This really comes down to nitpicking, but those little things will drive coaches crazy.
His performance wasn’t perfect, but it sure was a great performance for Dupree in his first action of preseason. The Steelers will be in great shape if we see anything close to this Bud Dupree in the regular season.
