Many defensive starters for the Steelers made their preseason debut this past Saturday night. Bud Dupree showed us all what he is capable of.

Bud Dupree is entering his fifth season with the Steelers and it’s a big year for him. He is playing for a big contract this upcoming offseason, whether that comes from Pittsburgh or anywhere else.

Dupree was a first round pick in 2015 by the Steelers, hoping to become the next great edge rusher for the Steelers. Dupree has tallied 20 sacks in his first four seasons in black and gold.

He has been bit a little by the injury bug, but overall, Dupree’s output has been inconsistent. He’s not a bad player, but for a first round pick, the Steelers definitely want more out of him. And I’m sure he wants more out of himself.

Dupree did not entertain any talks for a contract extension this offseason. He’s betting on himself; that he can hit another level and become a dangerous outside pass rusher. He has all the tools, he’s just needed to put together some consistency.

In the preseason matchup with Kansas City, Dupree recorded two sacks and a pass defended. We are going to take a closer look at those two sacks Bud made on Saturday night.
