Predicting Ben’s successor

I predict Mason Rudolph eventually winning the job for the number two quarterback position once the regular season begins. The position battle should be a close battle nonetheless. Josh Dobbs should finish behind him as quarterback number three, and do not be surprised if Hodges makes the roster as quarterback four as well.

Something to keep an eye on is other teams around the league inquiring about Dobbs. Plenty of teams are looking for reliable backup quarterbacks, and Dobbs has the ability to be a quarterback two on a handful of rosters.

Josh Dobbs and Devlin Hodges have ceilings of becoming solid backup quarterbacks in the NFL, and that is about it. Mason Rudolph on the other hand is the one quarterback on the Steelers roster, outside of Ben, who does have a real chance to become a starting quarterback in the NFL.

The Steelers drafted him in the third round of the 2018 NFL draft with the idea they will groom him to be Ben’s successor. This is a player out of Oklahoma State who had plenty of first round draft visits.

Rudolph could turn out to be one of the biggest steals of the class. Mason needs to prove that he is the one to lead the six time Super Bowl champs once Ben does retire. He’ll have to continue to prove his NFL starter potential, which I expect he will.
