Another backup who caught my eye was San Francisco 49ers backup Nick Mullens. Mullens had a very up and down year in 2018 while filling in for the 49ers starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and quarterback two, CJ Beathard, but showed a lot of positives throughout the campaign.

As a rookie last season, Mullens threw for 2,277 passing yards while tossing 13 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. These stats may not be flashy, but as a rookie it is a solid start to your career. The Southern Mississippi alumni no doubt belongs in the league, and given the right circumstances the 24-year old could thrive as a starter.

With the Steelers offensive and defensive futures looking bright, Mullins could be a guy that fits nicely in Pittsburgh. If the Steelers were to trade for Mullins today, Mullins trade value is probably not too expensive. This move has the possibility of being a low risk, high reward move. The Steelers could also wait until his rookie deal is done.
