The NFL season is just days away, but the Steelers still have a few major holes to fill. Here are five free agents Pittsburgh should look to bring in.
NFL cut day left us on the edge of our seats as we waited to see who would make the Steelers final roster. Most fans were hoping Pittsburgh would keep preseason stars Tuzar Skipper and Ulysees Gilbert.
After much anticipation, Pittsburgh cut their roster by 40 percent, and most fans were well-pleased. The Steelers found a way to keep some young talent that we didn’t initially think stood a shot at making the team.
Part of the reason they were able to do this was because they cut back at wide receiver. Most experts went back and forth between Eli Rogers and Johnny Holton making the team. At the end of the day, both players were out of a job.
While I like most of the decisions the Steelers elected to make this past Saturday, I still think they have some work to do. Pittsburgh severely lacks depth at a few positions, including tight end and safety.
Hundreds of players around the NFL were recently dumped into free agency. Though the Steelers haven’t made a claim for one just yet, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to try to beef up some of their weak positions.
Mike Tomlin’s team is in a Super Bowl window, and Ben Roethlisberger has just a few years left in the tank. The Steelers should be in ‘win now’ mode and should be exploring all options that give themselves the best chance of winning it all.
Here are five players I believe the Steelers should target to help their team this season:
