Pittsburgh Steelers fantasy: Who to start and sit vs. the Patriots
By Dan Gilliam
Tom Brady
The elder statesmen have made a career against the Steelers defense in the last 5 meetings. He has 1797 yards, 18 TDs, 71.9 percent completion rate, and 130.8 quarterback rating.
If you are playing at home the average is 359 yards, 3.6 TDS, 0 INTS. I would definitely start him this week with no worries at all. The Defense he is going up against is new and I am expecting them to make some mistakes which may lead to some long TDs.
James Conner
Conner had his break out last year and he should be started against any team or defense. In most drafts, he was drafted in the first on the beginning of the second round.
You don’t sit players that you drafted that high unless there is an injury. He will be used in a similar fashion to Le’Veon Bell and should also receive a good amount of passes thrown his way.
Juju Smith-Schuster
The new number one WR in Pittsburgh after the already mentioned Antonio Browns departure. Can he handle getting all the attention from the best CBs in the league and one of the focal points of the offense?
I think he can and I am not the only one who thinks so. I have read that some think that he could make another leap to potentially the number one WR in all of Fantasy Football. The question isn’t should I start Juju but if you should EVER bench him this year. No. No, you shouldn’t. This guy is a playmaker and a stud.
Vance McDonald
Here is another example of players who could potentially break out. McDonald had the best year of his career last year with 20 more receptions and almost doubled his best year in receiving yards.
The Steelers didn’t bring in another TE besides drafting one in the 5th round last year. This shows that they trust McDonald and I am hoping they try to use him as more of a weapon this year. He could see career-highs this season, but the problem is staying healthy. He hasn’t played a full season once in his career.
Julian Edelman
Tom Brady’s number one WR target machine. He is another player that I would probably never sit. Edelman is a WR2 in Fantasy Football and does not have a huge upside, but a consistent scorer in the 9-20 PPR point range.
James White
The team leader in targets last year. He finished the years as an RB1. White should be a solid start at home. He shouldn’t get the carries that Sony Michael will get but he should have plenty of opportunities to score you PPR points.
